Block 2.0

It's odd that my lack of web inspiration has not resurfaced. Usually I'll be working on something if not my blog, but for a while now, other than updating some icons I was doing for cherrypie, I haven't done anything. I'd planned out one personal site for someone that I'd barley started, and I still need to talk over the frequently postponed project of SupremeSonic's blog. Music has inspired me to get a bit more serious with my drum practicing, and I may even go back to the piano soon to try and come up with something for fun. The same method isn't seeming to work for web design, though, even when it's all casual projects. I have a hard time making something without just feeling like I'm ripping it off. Any suggestions? I suppose setting a date where I want this or that done by and simply ...

Your Xbox Live Gamerscore as a Feed

My Lifestream has gone through many different sources of feeds for my Xbox Live status. I think it started with the Live to Twitter ordeal, which was stupidly complicated and didn't even work that well. More recently, I changed it to my 360voice feed, but it still wasn't really what I wanted. I had been messing around with the 360voice API and trying to see what I needed to do to turn the XML into a standard RSS 2.0 feed. My attempts were fruitless, but I ended up contacting Squidpunch, a fellow 360 gamer and co-creator of The Live Eye, one of my favorite uses of the Xbox Developer Program features. Anyways, he very kindly agreed to help me out, and came up with a service that lists your gamertag and gamerscore daily through an RSS feed using the 360voice API. He's also kindly hooked me ...

The One About WordPress 2.3

It took a long time, but I now have my blog running WordPress 2.3 and my theme has been updated to go along with it. If there is one thing that I love about the Web 2.0 style now, it's that everything gets tags. So, I was originally planning to get a tag plugin, but I read about some of them and they sounded quite complicated, and I assumed that they would be useless when this update came out. Luckily for users of tag plugins, WordPress 2.3 can import all the tags into the integrated tag library, though I wasn't entirely wrong. So, as you've probably noticed, there is now a line under my original post meta for tags, and clicking on one of them brings you to a page that shows the top three tags and links you to my Tag Cloud page. I decided not to have the entire tag cloud above the tag archives, it looked too cluttered and disorganized. It could be worked into some blogs, though, and putting in on a sidebar for just that page would look great. Check out the WordPress Codex page for the tag cloud WP Tag for how to go about doing that.
