I’m Making a Note Here: Huge Success

It's a good thing I completed BioShock when I did. I picked up The Orange Box, along with another product which I'll blog about later, on Friday. This is basically the final nail in the coffin for Project Gotham Racing 4, not that I could afford it anymore if I wanted to. I need to play some more of the demo, just for fun, to see if I really want it or if it was just a phase thing. Regardless, I'm not even looking at it right now, this set is so good. Well, let me re-phrase that, Portal is so good, I actually haven't even played any of the other games yet. Like most people who are getting this, I think, I have never been into Half-Life before, but that's part of the appeal of this set. As soon as my family got a PC that was more than capable of running Half-Life, my hardware-challenged friend, Harry, started bugging me to buy it. I never did, and since I never had an original Xbox, I never paid much attention to that re-release, either. As soon as I saw Portal a number of months ago, though, this set became a must-buy. I don't know, but the general attitude before release about Portal seemed to be skeptical. For me, I was just purely excited. Having finished it twice, beating the Advance levels and being more than half way though the Time, Step and Portal Challenges, I think it's safe to say I'm satisfied. Well, as everybody's been saying, except for the length.

Crash and Burn

So, BioShock hates me. I've been experiencing problems with the game, and before you say LB + RB until the 2k logo, I know. But seriously, I can't find help for my problem with the game. While most people seem to be having small moments where the game freezes and then keeps going, mine crashes entirely. I know this isn't like my pre-Red Ring of Death crashes, too, and thank goodness for that. Before, I could tell it was the Xbox since if I disconnected the wireless controller and then tried to re-connect it, it couldn't find anything. Now, the controller re-connects without a problem, but BioShock is stuck in an infinite loop. I managed to get the game to work long enough to play through Neptune's Bounty after managing to get through the first level after four tries. I had to save ...

Everyone Was Right (About BioShock)

This post contains minor spoilers from the video game BioShock. My plan with BioShock was to completely ignore it. I never specifically followed it before and during its release, and I never got excited for it. Good thing, too, as I thing it came out while my 360 was gone. With so many games coming out, I figured I'd have to ignore a few, and for some reason BioShcok just didn't click with me early on, and I didn't let myself like the demo for fear of wanting the game. Anyways, Harry, who has now been mentioned in three successive blog entries, lent it to be because now his 360 bricked, and for the second time, too. Since he really has no need for the game until his box gets back, he insisted I tried it. While it's fairly short by today's standards, (and, for that reason, is a game I still don't feel I need to own) I'm very glad I did.
