Digital Foot-Shooting

So, I went to Best Buy and some other places to see if I wanted to spend any of the masses of gift cards I got over the holidays. I only ended up spending a little a Best Buy, namely because they are shooting themselves in the foot by having internet access on all their computers on display. I was carrying Shoot 'Em Up around most of the time I was there. I didn't see many good movies this year (I saw lots of movies, most of them just sucked) and I really enjoyed seeing Shoot 'Em Up. My friends are all mindless action junkies, so that was a pretty crazy experience. The writing is intentionally cheesy, but I see it as a kind of What if Smokin' Aces was good. However, checking the price at HMV.ca at Best Buy since I knew I was going to an HMV ...

I’m Making a Note Here: Huge Success

It's a good thing I completed BioShock when I did. I picked up The Orange Box, along with another product which I'll blog about later, on Friday. This is basically the final nail in the coffin for Project Gotham Racing 4, not that I could afford it anymore if I wanted to. I need to play some more of the demo, just for fun, to see if I really want it or if it was just a phase thing. Regardless, I'm not even looking at it right now, this set is so good. Well, let me re-phrase that, Portal is so good, I actually haven't even played any of the other games yet. Like most people who are getting this, I think, I have never been into Half-Life before, but that's part of the appeal of this set. As soon as my family got a PC that was more than capable of running Half-Life, my hardware-challenged friend, Harry, started bugging me to buy it. I never did, and since I never had an original Xbox, I never paid much attention to that re-release, either. As soon as I saw Portal a number of months ago, though, this set became a must-buy. I don't know, but the general attitude before release about Portal seemed to be skeptical. For me, I was just purely excited. Having finished it twice, beating the Advance levels and being more than half way though the Time, Step and Portal Challenges, I think it's safe to say I'm satisfied. Well, as everybody's been saying, except for the length.

Best Buy Seems to Think Sonic’s in Brawl

Edit: It has come to my attention that this is old news. (Is that an oxymoron?) You can jump to my comment on this article for details if you are interested. Yesterday I was in such a rush to play Metroid when I got home, I didn't even notice this. This morning, however, upon giving the sheet a closer look, I noticed something a little odd. Along with Samus, Link, Kirby and Wario, Sonic is there, and all of 'em next to a big Super Smash Bros. Brawl logo. I thought that maybe these were some of the characters who's games were on the coupon sheet, but you can clearly see that in fact none of them are. This is nothing exciting, really, just another chance to start rumors. More than likely some Best Buy designer thought it would be funny or really wanted Sonic in the game or ...
