Refraining from Swearing

Bye...

When you use someone for a service, especially a company that only does one thing, you expect it to be done right. You don’t have to remind a car repair shop to fix your car, so could someone explain to me why I’m on the phone with Purolator, trying to find out why they didn’t ship my Xbox yet? It’s been almost two weeks since I shipped that, I got the box and dropped it off the same day — their track record confirms that. What it also shows, unknown to me until this morning, is that it hasn’t left that drop-off center yet! These past two weeks, I’ve been under the assumption that my box was in the mail, but it turns out that it is still sitting where I left it. On top of that, I can’t even call and yell at them today because they’re closed on the weekends. No one at the phones, no one in the store.

Now, some people will try and blame this on me. Actually, the Xbox Support lady already did. Screw you, Beth. Why should I have to keep tabs on my package? There is no reason. There was a time when email updates wasn’t an option and they just shipped your package. On top of that, Xbox.com is giving me updates automatically, so I assumed I wouldn’t need to go subscribe to another set of email that should have been giving me the exact same status updates. Turns out they wouldn’t, because your box has to be in the mail for it to have a status. Now all I’m getting is messages from Xbox.com saying I need to let them know that I don’t want my order canceled, which I can’t currently do because the site is undergoing system upgrades and may be unavailable at times between September 14, 2007 and September 19, 2007. The worst part of all this is that it took a mere five days from when I called to get the box to my house, the Xbox in it and back to the store. Here I am, still without a 360, when it’s entirely possible that it would be fixed and on its way back at this point. Good thing I’m not a Halo fan, or I’d even more mad. The only bright side for me is that this isn’t all happening in November, when Mass Effect and Rock Band are coming out.

And now I’m reminded why I love Canada Post. Wait, I don’t. But they aren’t as notorious as Purolator, FedEx, and UPS for being total idiots.

Also, Microsoft’s customer support is 99% crap. Just the fact that it took them so long to acknowledge that RROD was a major problem speaks for itself.
