I figured it was about time I finished off one blog and started the new one. I’ve had WordPress installed for, what, over a week now, so I guess it’s about time I do something on it. I doubt I’ll leave my theme as-is, it needs more…something. I don’t know what that is yet. One thing I do know I would like to add is a gamercard to the bottom bar. Unfortunately, I can’t seem to Ardamis’ lovely script get to work properly, which is odd since it runs fine on my local copy of WordPress. I’ve tried both the WordPress plugin version and the script version, and neither can seem to clear the cache properly. Or something. I don’t really know what’s wrong. So, that isn’t going to be up any time soon, but there are plenty of other cool things I’ve added to this version of my blog. First of all, there are simple things like being able to host my domain, space to upload files and WordPress 2. It seems small, but it’s actually quite a big jump from a Blogsome blog running WordPress 1.5 and nothing else. I should clarify, however, I did love Blogsome while I was using them, and I highly recommend them to anyone starting out with blogging but unsure if they want to invest any money. I’ve already started taking advantage of some plugins for Twitter and Flickr, though I’m capable of doing both things the plugins do without a plugin. It’s just easier this way. By far my favourite new feature is my Lifestream, made in part with Chris Davis’ Lifestream plugin. Basically, it takes all the RSS feeds I want to and displays them in a convenient list for someone who has an obsession with what I’m doing. Or, you know, someone who just likes Web 2.0 stuff and RSS feeds. It’s cool to see it all in a list, to have “Going out to take photos” from Twitter, then all the photos from Flickr all show up in a list or whatever. It also allows for a lot more possibilities, RSS feeds from a video game or clips I’ve shared through a video service. Hopefully someone figures out a way to extract data from the Forza 2 site which could be used for Lifestreams. Now, in a regular blog I’d use that as a segway into a paragraph about Forza 2, but there are two reasons I’m not going to.

1. I’m less than 10% into the career mode of Forza 2, and in the scope of the entire game, that’s nothing.
2. I’m trying to write shorted blogs more often, so this is a topic I can save for a later date.

So, I guess that’s it, then. My first true post to dotKenneth.com is done. Time to get back to filling up that Lifestream.
P.S.: If you were wondering, the title is a reference to a couple of things. First, the ‘code-name’ I used for my blog’s theme, WordProgress, which in turn was a reference to the tag line that shows up when you first install WP: Just Another WordPress Blog.
