WEM Trip
So as you may or may not know, I live only about 20 min. away from the apparent “Greatest Indoor Show on Earth,” in other words, the West Edmonton Mall. It is one of the biggest malls in the world, having over 600 stores, a waterpark, an amusement park, two minigolf spots and two foodcourts, a movie theater with Imax screens and a mini-Chinatown. Yeah. Pretty sweet. You’d think it would be awesome to have such a place so close, and it is, but sometimes it sucks, too. For example, when I went today, I came back with $110 CND worth of stuff, and most of it I don’t want. At HMV I went looking for Boy Kill Boy’s album, but I only found a single. Right near it was Bloc Party - Silent Alarm Remix. I have Silent Alarm and love the album, so I decided to buy the remix. Turns out the best song is one I already have as the band offer it for free on their website, and most of the other songs aren’t all that great. Next and Games Workshop I was happy to look through some of the new minis I didn’t know had been released. Tau Stealth Suits, Eldar Rangers and (Oh!) those new Sniper Scouts. I new they were coming but didn’t know they were out. A sales guy, I think he is new, quickly comes over and starts bugging me. “Aw, those guys are great, bla bla bla.” Yeah, I know. I play 40k. Anyways, to get him to shut up I give in and go buy the scouts. I wanted them, but not really on this trip. I managed to add another $40 to the total at the counter with the new White Dwarf magazine, red paint and black spray paint. Stupid GW and their high prices. Next I go to Comic King and pick up some comics I actually wanted. So there you have it. How I managed to spend $65+ on stuff I really want. Now I have to go paint miniatures. I think I have 2,500 pts. of Space Marines in my basement I haven’t started.
